Hi, I’m Melanie.

Melanie Karakaidos, holistic kinesiologist Southern Sydney

I am a holistic kinesiologist. I hold a Diploma of Kinesiology from the College of Complementary Medicine, supported by a background in sociology.

But more than qualifications, my work is shaped by lived experience. As a mother, patient advocate, and nonprofit founder within the rare disease community, I've spent over a decade walking alongside families through life's most uncertain and challenging moments. That experience changes you.

It teaches you how to truly listen, how to sit with people in what's hard, how to hold space, how to find trust when you can't see hope.

What I've learned along the way is that every person carries gifts that are innately theirs. When we are reminded of these, we begin to soften and the way forward naturally reveals itself.

Talk. Rest. Release.

What I draw on in my work.

Gentle somatic bodywork and kinesiology session

My work draws on a range of modalities and training, grounded in holistic kinesiology and somatic approaches.

Holistic kinesiology recognises that mind, body, and spirit are all connected. I look at emotional wellbeing, mental patterns, physical structure, and the body's natural energy systems, drawing on principles from Traditional Chinese Medicine alongside a modern understanding of the body and supportive counselling approaches.

Somatic work is woven throughout this process, using gentle techniques such as acupressure and harmonic techniques to calm and support the nervous system.

Sometimes we use muscle monitoring, a gentle way of accessing the body's subconscious responses. It helps bring forward what your body already knows, without needing to overthink or work it out logically.
